Maria Joana Neiva Correia received the degree in Chemical Engineering and the PhD in Chemical Engineering (1996), both from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon. She is Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering of IST and is presently responsible for the courses of Sources and Control of Air Pollution of the Master Programme in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Utilities of the Master Programme of Biological Engineering and Biofuels, which is an optional course for several Master Programmes of IST. Her research interests are in the area of hydrometallurgy and separation processes, with emphasis on their application to the treatment of ores/residues and liquid effluents, and biofuels production. She has integrated the IST team of 17 R&D and technology transfer or cooperation projects with the industry. She has supervised/co-supervised 3 PhD theses. M. Joana Neiva Correia has co-authored 40 papers and book chapters in ISI journals with 915 citations and an h index of 14.
