PhD in Engineering in the field of Mineral Technology, Environmental Technology, and Extractive Metallurgy from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Since 2008, she has been working as a full professor in the Environmental Sanitation Program at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Southern Rio Grande.
She leads the Research Group on Waste, Construction Materials, and Silica Gel, where she conducts studies on the sol-gel process to extract silica gel from waste materials. Currently, she serves as a collaborating researcher at the Center for Natural Resources and Environment (CERENA) at the University of Porto's Faculty of Engineering. Her research focuses on extracting silica from coal fly ash (CPCM), with an emphasis on applying the sol-gel process to extract silica from residues of a former landfill at a thermal power plant in northern Portugal.
