Baraa Osman hold a 5-year Bachelor's of Engineering (Hons) degree in Petroleum Engineering with a major in Production Technology from University Tekonologi PETRONAS in Malaysia, focused on Well Stimulation techniques, Petroleum Production Optimization and Offshore Structures.

He joined Instituto Superior Técnico in Master of Energy Resources Engineering in 2021, where he is a finalist working on Spatio-temporal modeling of Carbon Capture and Storage using Time-lapse Seismic data (4D) with Professor Leonardo Azevedo.

He Joined the Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering program at Instituto Superior Técnico in 2023 supervised by Professor Amilcar Soares and Co-Supervised by Associate Professor José Manuel Marques and Mr. Dario Sergio Cersosimo.

He was granted the FCT 2023 Call for PhD Studentships – Specific Line of Application in a Non-academic Environment (48 months), to develop the workplan titled "Geostatistical Seismic Inversion for the Characterization of Geothermal Systems" in a collaboration with Galp Energia.

He is the teaching assistant for the master's curricular unit, Geothermal Energy.

His research interests are characterization, data integration and uncertainty assessment in subsurface reservoirs, Energy Transition, Energy Innovation, Energy Diplomacy and Engineering Education.
